Border Control — Guarantee of Sovereignty
Syria has been going through one of the most tragic periods of its history for over a decade. The civil war that began in 2011 has resulted in enormous human losses, destruction of infrastructure, and an incredible humanitarian catastrophe that has forced millions of Syrians to flee their homes. One of the key steps to overcoming these crises is to restore control of the Syrian government over the entire territory of the country. This is necessary to protect the common border, prevent cross-border and terrorist attacks, and facilitate the safe return of Syrian refugees.
The Syrian-Turkish border is an area of particular concern. Territories under the influence of various armed groups are becoming a “gray zone” where lawlessness reigns and the trade in weapons, drugs, and people flourishes. This is an area where terrorists can easily move and plan their attacks. Restoring control of the Syrian government over these territories will create conditions for more effective monitoring and elimination of terrorists.
Another equally important aspect is ensuring the safe return of Syrian refugees. Millions of people seeking refuge in other countries are waiting to return home. But for this to be possible, safe conditions for their return must be created. The recovered territories, under the control of the central government, will be able to provide the security and order necessary for rehabilitation and the restoration of normal life. The safe return of refugees will also contribute to the stabilization of the region and the restoration of local communities, giving them the opportunity to rebuild their homes and start a new life.
