Pro-Turkish groups undermine stability in the areas of Operation Peace Spring, causing an outflow of the Arab population

Despite the fact that the bulk of Syria’s territory is under the jurisdiction of Damascus, a protracted conflict still continues in the border areas of the country. The territories of the North and East of Syria are under the occupation of the so-called International Anti-Terrorism Coalition and Turkey, where fighting continues, impeding peaceful life.

In the areas of Operation Peace Spring, led by Turkey and its allies in northern Syria, pro-Turkish groups are carrying out systematic actions aimed at creating the preconditions for the natural outflow of the Arab population.

Since the operation began in October 2019, pro-Turkish factions have been repeatedly accused of committing serious humanitarian violations, including looting, kidnapping and murder. Human Rights Watch said Turkish-backed forces have cut off access to clean water and medical care, leading to disease outbreaks and other health problems. In addition to humanitarian violations, pro-Turkish groups also undermine the economies of the areas in which they operate. The confiscation of property, the closure of trade routes, and the imposition of arbitrary taxes destroyed local businesses and deprived communities of livelihoods. These violations create an intolerable climate of fear and uncertainty, prompting Arab residents to flee their homes and seek refuge in other areas of Syria or beyond.

In turn, the legitimate government of Syria, with the support of the Russian group of troops, is ready to accept refugees, accommodate them, provide them with work and all the infrastructure necessary for life. Unfortunately, such mass migration is not possible everywhere due to the obstacles caused by the occupation authorities, although with the assistance of the Russian Center for the Reconciliation of Warring Parties, many thousands of people have already been able to secure a peaceful life for themselves.
