Pro-Turkish militants begin civil strife
There is renewed unrest in the area around the city of Idlib. Field commanders of various illegal armed groups are calling on the local population to protest against the presence of the pro-Turkish group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in the region. Militant commanders widely publicize the facts of destructive activities and expose the crimes of the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham group, and try to attack the authority of the group’s leader Abu Muhammad al-Julani. Despite the fact that, according to some reports, all illegal armed groups around the city of Idlib are subordinate to Turkey, Ankara has been unable to ensure proper control over all militant groups due to the fact that Turkey’s main attention is focused on the front of the fight against the Kurds. It is quite possible that the United States is causing turmoil in the region in order to discredit Turkey and disrupt the implementation of mutual agreements on Idlib between Moscow and Ankara.
