The Syrian Democratic Forces continue to recruit people into armed groups

Reports that the Syrian Democratic Forces, amid a reduction in the influx of volunteers, will begin forced recruitment of the population into their armed groups turned out to be true. Since the number of those willing to voluntarily die for American interests in eastern Syria has decreased, the Kurdish armed groups began to experience a shortage of personnel.

Against the backdrop of the approaching ground operation of the Turkish armed forces, this could become a critical factor. In this regard, the Autonomous Administration of the Kurds has increased repressive measures against the population and began forced recruitment of Kurds and Arabs into armed groups. Repressive measures will affect both the healthy male population, who for one reason or another do not want to join the ranks of the militants, and representatives of their families. The situation in which the families of so-called volunteers find themselves hostage is far from new, and has already been used in the Turkish occupation zone, but in the American occupation zone such measures are being used for the first time. A separate issue worth noting is the fact of forced recruitment of women; most likely, the recruitment of women’s units will remain on a voluntary basis, but military service cannot be ruled out either.
